Classic Animation Short Film

Childhood's end?

The protagonist is a grown-up with a tedious, routine desk job, who gets to meet the child he used to be. My goal was to show that it is not only possible, but highly recommended, to try and reconnect with your inner child, even for a moment. The world of children is full of imagination and joy derived from the little things. Getting in touch with this world can help adults step outside of their daily routine. This film was made as part of my Visual Communications studies at the Shenkar College.

About the Project

Technical
Each frame was hand drawn using a light table and then scanned to the computer. The animation edited using After Effects.

Design elements
Almost the entire film was drawn using a black pen. Only the child was drawn using a green pencil, representing something which is natural, primordial, even naive.

Music
The music only appears when the child is on screen, and serves to demonstrate the theme of childhood. Towards the end, when the child is jumping on the keyboard, I edited in piano sounds to make it seem like the child is playing them himself.
